The Search for the Durotriges

The talk is about the first named people of Dorset (but also of southern Somerset and Wiltshire). These were the Durotriges who lived in the farmsteads, settlements and hillforts of this area just before the Roman invasion which changed their world forever.
Who were these people?
What defined them?
How did they live.
Were they a single tribe under a supreme chief or an alliance of communities centred on the great hillforts of the county?
Dramatic inspiring earthworks such as Maiden Castle, Hambledon Hill and particularly Badbury Rings.
Badbury was where Martin  began his research as archaeologist for the National Trust which sponsored the PhD forming the basis of this powerpoint presentation.
